Description elger.jonker 2011-01-21 12:39:44 UTC
The prefix "category:" for each subcategory doesn't make sense. Are there different types of subcategories and does that prefix has to stand out so prominently?

This occurred in the 1.16.0 software; subcategory lists now are still ordered correctly (A - Z) but all links are prefixed. A subcategory page looks like this:

B
Category:Ballot
K
Category:Keyboard
L
Category:Lens
P
Category:Portrait
Category:Post

Its annoyingly redundant. See URL

Product	Version
MediaWiki	1.16.0
PHP	5.2.6-1+lenny9 (cgi-fcgi)
MySQL	5.0.51a-24+lenny4
Comment 1 Mark A. Hershberger 2011-01-21 19:08:22 UTC
not a bug, as designed.
Comment 2 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2011-01-21 19:10:45 UTC
We could probably hack it to remove the Category prefix when listing subcategories.
Comment 3 Mark A. Hershberger 2011-01-21 19:13:09 UTC
feel free to add that and see if it flies.
Comment 4 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2011-01-21 19:52:42 UTC
Looks like it was implemented since the prefix is stripped in trunk currently. Will probably be with 1.17.
