VideoLAN Movie Creator (VLMC) is still in its infancy, but it is being actively developed. One of the nice features they are working on, is libishare http://github.com/rohityadav/libishare This library will allow for easy publishing of your movie to Youtube and this will be part of the soon to be released VLMC 0.2 (and vimeo support is being worked on). Another goal of the library is allowing for integrated online clip search and importing. I think that the Wikimedia Commons community would be very interested in such functionality, especially since it is cross platform and can use full system cpu. By implementing Wikimedia Commons support in libishare, we might be able to generate even more video activity in the community, which is an important goal. We (or I) should probably look into it. Filing this in mwEmbed as the most relevant area from the WMF side.
sounds cool. I wonder if we could take it to the next level and also have the VLC editor being able to work with the smil sequence edit format.

TheDJ: Do you know by any chance in case you follow VLC development?
TheDJ, or mdale: Could you answer comment 2 please?
Development seems to have gone dormant since then, propose we close it.
