Probably because getting the rename log for "" returns all entries on the web interface, I guess it would be that way for the internal code.

I'm not sure this should be filed under the RenameUser extension. In any case, the core interface also outputs "User account "" is not registered." which should also be addressed.

Looks like this is fixed. The URL http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/User:/ no longer displays the described behaviour. Exact place and time of fix unknown.
