Using Internet Explorer (IE 7.0.6001.18000), right-clicking on the word "Search" in the search box does not open the appropriate context-sensitive menu for pasting into the search box. Workaround: carefully right-click on the whitespace within the search box, not too close to the actual word "Search." (Cf. Bug 23490 - a different issue with similar symptom.)
Additional symptom (IE7): Even left-clicking on the word "search" does not activate text insertion in the search box. You have to click again after the word disappears. I am bumping severity from Minor to Normal because this feels positively dysfunctional.

This happens not only in IE, but also in my Iceweasel browser which is similar to Firefox.

See also bug 24498.
This now seems to be working for me in IE7. I am not sure when it changed. If it tests ok in other browsers then this bug can probably be closed.
(In reply to comment #6) > This now seems to be working for me in IE7. Works for me too in Firefox 16.0.2 on en.wikipedia.org. Closing as WORKSFORME but please reopen if this happens again.
