Description James Hare 2009-09-03 09:09:24 UTC
Consider http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat -- to the casual user, "Cat" appears to be a subdirectory of "wiki", which is a reasonable assumption because that's how it works on most corners of the web. Therefore, said casual user will go to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Cat/ with the slash, thinking that it's the same thing as without the slash. However, it is not.

Therefore, I propose that all entered page titles that end in a slash automatically redirect without the slash; e.g., "Cat/" becomes "Cat", "Wikipedia/" becomes "Wikipedia", etc. This would result in less confusion, and it's not like there's a valid reason for page titles to end with a slash to begin with.
