Asking the resolution of the user who reported the issue.  Wide characters tend to stretch the tab widths.

The reporter enlarges the font sizes.  However this bug can be reproduced easily with font size 16 on the 1600x1200 screen by scaling down the browser for about 20%. 

"1280x1024, Linux (Ubuntu 9.04), Firefox 3.0.13. Well, indeed I have minimal fontsize set in firefox to 18 --- otherwise fonts in wikipedia are too small for comfortable reading."

In the future, we may want to consider multiple settings of skins for people who prefer larger fonts and smaller fonts and adjust the tab layout accordingly.  Newspaper sites and financial institute such as schwab.com offer such feature.

We have CollapsibleTabs now, which will be deployed to Wikipedia soon.
