Description Brian Latimer 2009-06-28 18:33:31 UTC
When viewing the list of templates which are trancluded onto a given page in the normal Edit view, they are shown in alphabetical order (alphabetically-first template name is listed first).

However, after clicking on "Show Preview", the list is changed to show them in order of usage (first-used template is listed first).

The latter behavior would be preferable, allowing easier recognition and references to the items on the page, accordingly to how they are expected to be found. If the user needs to find a specifically-named template, and doesn't know where it might be found on a complex page, they can always do a text search on the page for that particular item.

Note that this is recognized as occurring under an older MW version. Is it already addressed, perhaps?

Possibly related to bug 878 - since that also deals with a different display of templates (in that case, NONE being shown), until "Preview" is used?

Dupe of bug 12644, fixed last year.
