Description Cenarium 2009-01-08 15:59:32 UTC
It would be extraordinarily useful to have variables {{editprotectionlevel}} and {{moveprotectionlevel}} returning respectively the edit and move protection level of a page, 'none', 'autoconfirmed' and 'sysop'. Using them in protection templates would allow to hide the tag when protection is expired or inexistent, and to add the pages to maintenance categories making it easier for tag-removal bots and much more efficient than the actual system relying on the presence of an expiry date in the template. As of now, there are probably hundreds of pages with incorrect protection templates.
