Description Minh Nguyễn 2005-03-12 04:09:04 UTC
The Ossetic Wikipedia at http://os.wikipedia.org/ already exists, but MediaWiki
won't recognize any interwiki links to it, using any of the following formats:

* os:
* os:Сæйраг фарс
* :os:
* Ossetic language edition
* :os:Сæйраг фарс
* Ossetic language edition

I have tested this on w:en:, w:vi:, and m:.

Two lines of the description are shown below:

> * Ossetic language edition
> * Ossetic language edition

Only 5 formats were tested, it seems.

Sorry, I meant to put Ossetic language edition as the last one. It
still doesn't work, though.

There aren't many Ossetians, and there are fewer still who have access to the Internet. Yet
the handful who do have pulled together and created a decent little Wikipedia. They've
translated several English-language articles and tried to provied links to them in Ossetian,
but they aren't working. The bug was reported a month ago, yet no progress has been made.
This isn't a "normal" problem, it's pretty major. If I knew what to do, I'd fix it. But I
can't. Someone who can should do so ASAP. It may be a small thing to most English speakers,
but to the Ossetians it is probably a huge deal (are their article contributions even being
recognized and ranked?).

Added. Purge cache of pages as needed.

I'm still seeing the problem over at Meta. The m:Wikimedia News page has
several links to os:, and they all have to use the external link format, because
the interwiki link is still broken. I have tried purging already.

Reopening.
