Description Miraceti 2008-11-19 06:32:42 UTC
Some users feel references and notes should not be mixed altogether. It would be very nice if Mediawiki provided practically the same functionality as in case of references for notes as well. That means, a new pair tag <note> and single tag <notes /> would provide the same comfort as <ref> and <references />. Notes could be "numbered" by alphabet characters in order to distinguish them from references (a, b, c, ..., z, aa, ab, ac, ..., az, ba, ...; could be provided also in cyrillic and other alphabets).

I feel this could be relatively easy to implement and it would help to many wikis where purity of the references is demanded.
