Description MZMcBride 2008-08-01 02:43:06 UTC
When the "E-mail me when my user talk page is changed" option is checked, the notifications come from noc@wikipedia.org. This seems inaccurate and misleading when the e-mails are about notifications from mediawiki.org or meta.wikimedia.org or the various other projects. In addition, 'noc' is an unfamiliar abbreviation to most people.

Is it possible to change the sending address to something more intuitive? Perhaps mail@wikimedia.org ?

Or, more ambitiously, the mail could come from mail@<lang>.<project>.org, but that may be more hassle than it's worth.

...but noc @ wikipedia.org is the actual e-mail address. (Don't send an e-mail there to test it, it'll just piss off the roots :P) I wouldn't have a problem with them doing what seems to already be done for e-mail confirmations: wiki @ wikimedia.org.
