Adding fields to the edit page form, near the comment field, to allow users who have accounts but have not logged in for a session to do that in conjuction with posting a contribution would make it more convenient for such users to log in, and therefore increase the number of attributed contributions. This feature suggestion is stolen bodily from LiveJournal, which also makes *the authentication of the *current* comment* vs *logging the user in* a separate checkbox, defaulting to no; whether this extension is useful in the WikiPedia environment is open to question, but it might be useful in other MediaWiki installations; the default should probably be adminstrator configurable.
Not sure how useful this would be, and would create more edit form clutter.
Ok. I promise not to bother filing any more bugs against this project. "I'm not sure how useful this is" is *never* a justification for "CLOSED WONTFIX" on an open source project. Never. For a discussion, but since the bug is 3 friggin years old, I don't think that matters. <sigh> Y'all have a nice day.
