Summary pretty much says it all. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&titles=Anne%20Frank&prop=categories&clprop=sortkey shows the sort keys. http://en.wikipedia.org/w/api.php?action=query&titles=Anne%20Frank&generator=categories&gclprop=sortkey doesn't.
This also applies for other lists that have a prop parameter and can be used as generator. Is by design, I think?

All a generator does is pass a list of page titles to the 'real' query. Other things can't be passed right now, and I doubt it'll ever be possible.
