Edits of a section are since 1.4 shown on RC and history pages with an arrow (''→Section'') that works as a hypertext link to the section. But those links lead always to the current revision, which is wrong for links on a history page. The links should lead to the respective oldid.
It's not particularly clear that they would. No other links in comments go to date-specific revisions.
Well, it seems obvious to me... you know, take a line like: (cur) (last) 12:00, 7 Feb 2005 Mormegil (→Section - summary) all article links except the arrow lead to the specified revision (or to a diff against it). It is (of course) really a minor problem, but I think that for better usability, the arrow should either lead to the old revision, or not be displayed at all. Hmm...forget it, I _can_ live with that anyway. :-)
One reason for the expectation that these links go to the historical revision is that these section names may not even exist in the current revision. I'd support either removing these links completely or linking to the historical revision using the section name as the hyperlink, rather than automatically generate links to anchors that don't exist. The arrow could be removed in either case.
(In reply to comment #3) Linking to the section within the historical revision would still be an issue when the edit itself had changed the section or inserted a new section aboved it. Also visibly confusing the arrow link is the current parsing of wikilinks within the summary's section prefix, i.e. the summary /* [[foo]] */ is rendered with no gap between the arrow and the foo hyperlinks. And see bug 2346, which arises from this parsing. Does anyone want to keep the arrow hyperlink?
definitely keep it. it is exteremely useful when following updates on long pages. I'd rather it still go to the current version, as is the case now. Furthermore, these same links should appear on diff pages, not only in watchlist and rc lists. See <a href=http://bugzilla.wikipedia.org/show_bug.cgi?id=2313>bug 2313</a>
