When I go to the printable version of the wikipedia page "1880s in fashion" Firefox freezes up and I have to 'force quit' and start it up again. I tried this two or three times and the same thing happened each time. There doesn't seem to be anything wrong with the page in its ordinary viewing mode, but only in the printable version. Thanks, Mary.
The prontable version only uses a different CSS. Nothing which should block FF. No problem with the page here, but i'm not in Mac OS. Which Firefox version are you using?
Worksforme too on Firefox on Ubuntu Feisty. Have you experienced this problem more than once? It's likely an out-of-memory condition (Firefox is notorious for memory leaks) that's going to be difficult to reproduce.
I tested it using MS Windows XP using Firefox 2.0.0.3. It works fine. It might be problem of your browser in working with css and that page. I believe this is not a mediawiki bug and can be marked as invalid here.
I am using Firefox 2.0.0.9 on MacBook OS 10.4.10. I have 1G of memory and a 1.83GHz Intel Core Duo Processor. I don't understand the technical aspects of things like browsers and memory leaks. I've only had this problem today on that one page, although I viewed and printed several other pages as well and use wikipedia nearly every day without problems. Thanks for your help.
Marking "WORKSFORME". Not a problem with MediaWiki.
Working fine on my Mac as well... weird. :(
