Description Rémi Kaupp 2007-08-25 20:13:48 UTC
{{formatnum:}} is now widely used on the French Wikipedia as it introduces a non-breaking space between thousands. However, it is a bit long when used in an article's text, so maybe a short alias would be used for it ? Something like {{fm:}} could do, or anything short which wouldn't conflict with other existing codes.

Shortcuts could become confusing when there will be more functions in future.

Example for this case: Imagine there would be {{filemetadata:}} function. Apparently the first thinkable shortcut is {{fm:}}.

Inclining to wontfix.
