I'd like to see a function to check whether or not user account exists for the specified string.

{{#ifuserexist: Humperdink|[[User:Humperdink]] is|Humperdink is not}} a registered username.

Would not really want this sort of thing in the markup system.

Content (which is portable) should never depend on the local user database (which is not).
