See above url: Wikitext says "''E''λ''i''", but renders as "<em>E</em>λ<em>i</em> " Skin is Col Blue, Mozilla Firefox 0.8.
MediaWiki currently renders nested tags just fine, but tidy is rejecting it and rewriting the output. I'm not sure why; validator.w3.org accepts it just fine. May be a bug in tidy.
I reported this as a bug of tidy at SourceForge [http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=1235296&group_id=27659&atid=390963 here]. As a result, it is now fixed in the CVS version of tidy with [http://sourceforge.net/mailarchive/forum.php?thread_id=7724250&forum_id=8699 this patch].
Changing product to "Wikimedia web sites" as tidy need an upgrade (if we still use it on the site).
