I propose a new thing to MediaWiki. When an user recives a message in his talk page he could recive also an email message announcing him that he has messages. Two conditions must be accomplished: 1. The user must provide an email adress 2. The user must check a box in his preferences
RESOLVED INVALID, this functionality already exists.
Look at Enotif which is available since 1.5 . $wgEnotifUserTalk = true; Will enable email notification on user talk.
The users can select if they recive or not messages?
Yes.
Regarding Mihai's original request (comment #0) Was this a request regarding a) MediaWiki functionality for new installations b) MediaWiki functionality for WikiMedia foundation wiki's see also: Bug 3976: set up a procedure about activating the "ENotif on changes at own talk pages" feature at WikiMedia foundation wiki's in [[Special:Preferences]] Bug 3975: set up a procedure about activating the "Confirm your e-mail address" feature at WikiMedia foundation wiki's in [[Special:Preferences]] Regarding Ashar's answer at comment #2 > Look at Enotif which is available since 1.5 . > > $wgEnotifUserTalk = true; > > Will enable email notification on user talk. Does "Will enable email notification on user talk." means 1) "Setting $wgEnotifUserTalk = true; will enable email notification on user talk at new /available installatiuons." 2) "I will enable email notification on user talk at WikiMedia foundation wiki's."
