Looks like it is probably the same as Bug #32913

Sorry, this might be one of the device-specific problems in Android, of which there are many. Please let us know a specific device.

see bug 32902, that should be the main bug for hardware keyboard issues.

Closing out for PhoneGap-based app which will be discontinued inf avor of a native app which should behave nicer in this regard.
