In the post-1.5beta1 on en.wikipedia.org,
'sections' are getting edit links. See also bug 2128 (1.4 <h*> sections break edit-link section numbering) and bug 2129 (1.5-cvs puts <h*> sections in the TOC).

(posting comment anyway following "mid-air collision") Test case 1 - editing "1" gives whole page :
1
one ==2== two ==3== three Test case 2 (putting h2 in a table) - editing "1" gives section "2" (like bug 2128) : {| |
1
one |} ==2== two ==3== three
Re-opening with test cases and changed summary.
Thanks, those particular cases do indeed fail.
Second test case was simplified from the original report [[Wikipedia:MediaWiki_1.5_bugs#Clicking_on_.22section_edit_link.22.2C_edits_wrong_section]] by [[User:Paul_August]]: I've experienced the situation where clicking on a section "edit link", edits wrong section. See for example [[User:Paul_August/Subpage_13]]. It has three "sections", the first section being a table. Clicking on the first "section edit link" for the table brings up an edit window for "section two", clicking on the second "section edit link" brings up an edit window for "section three", clicking on the third "section edit link" brings up a blank edit window.
