de.wikipedia (probably like any other Wikipedia) has a large set of custom JavaScript programs programmed by users. Currently there is no easy way sorting them (by quality), recommending them and switching them on and off (for a average user that has no deeper technical knowledge). Therefore there is http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Extension:Gadgets by Duesentrieb that allows for an easy management of Javascript gadgets. So I ask you to enable this extension for de.wikipedia.
After installation of the extension, there's a header at the top of each page saying: "((NO GADGETS))". Since this is not good, I've disabled the extension again. Please fix the bug and reopen this bug when you're done.
It seems to only appear as long as the [[MediaWiki:Gadgets-definition]] page does not exist. Once it's filled with any content (a single asterisk character will do), it vanishes. So, any de.wiki admin can create the page and reopen this bug. A side note is that the extension is listed on mediawiki.org as "experimental" - is it no longer true?
Duesentrieb fixed the bug and the extension is now active in de.wikipedia. Thanks a lot for your work :-)
brion deactivated it until he reviewed the code
it's live again, with some slight modifications. let's hope it stays live now :)
