BUG MIGRATED FROM SOURCEFORGE http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=980963&group_id=34373&atid=411192 Originally submitted by Tomos (wiki_tomos) 2004-06-28 04:23 I am not sure where I am supposed to report this. Appreciate if you can tell me where to, if not here. Feature request? Wikitech-l? Or perhaps anyone of these is acceptable. Anyhow, it was pointed out that interwiki links to minnan wikipedia does not work. Minnan is a dialect of chenese, and there may be no ISO language code. According to http://meta.wikipedia.org/wiki/Complete_list_of_language _Wikipedias_available the wikipedia is currently at minnan.wikipedia.org. ------------------------- Additional comments ------------------------ Date: 2004-07-12 03:16 Sender: nobody Logged In: NO For an example of a non-working Minnan interlanguage link, see: http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/J._K._Rowling Many other examples exist. ------------------------------------------------- Date: 2004-08-07 03:43 Sender: SF user vibber What is the correct localized name to display in the language link list? ------------------------------------------------- Date: 2004-08-11 09:19 Sender: SF user jarsyl Currently interlanguage links to the minnan.wikipedia.org site seem to work (I can't read Minnan) but are also being displayed for everyone to see on their origin pages. The "current events" page at http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Current_events is one such example. It seems the non-standard (longer than two letters) language code is throwing things off. ------------------------------------------------- Date: 2004-08-11 09:28 Sender: SF user vibber The reason it doesn't show with the language links is that it's not defined in the language names table. Someone needs to decide what the appropriate name text should be so we can add it once and for all. ------------------------------------------------- Date: 2004-08-11 09:57 Sender: SF user jarsyl As someone who doesn't understand the Minnan dialect, and so who doesn't really have a right to make this decision, I would like to propose "minnan" as the name text, since that is what is used in the URL for the relevant Wikipedia (and in fact is what is used in the interlanguage links as well). ------------------------------------------------- Date: 2004-08-12 14:54 Sender: SF user hashar According to the ./languages/names.php the minnan translation is : ------------------------------------------------- Date: 2004-08-13 02:40 Sender: SF user wikipedian According to http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Minnan the 'native name' is Blor Bl-ghe minnan Wikipedia itself writes Blg we should use it: http://minnan.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A2n-l%C3%A2m-g%C3%BA

Is this still a problem?
The name shown below is understandable to all Minnan speakers. Other names exist. http://minnan.wikipedia.org/wiki/B%C3%A2n-l%C3%A2m-g%C3%BA Please avoid "Minnan" or "Min-nan", which is a Mandarin pronunciation (i.e. non-native).

It still is a problem, that the hyperlink in the source will not be sorted to "Wikipedia in other languages". The problem seems to eb the length of the string "minnan". If I replace it by "en", the link will be sorted correctly into "Wikipedia in other languages". Rainer
The problem, that the WIKI software does not recognize the interwiki-link still exists, if I shorten "minnan" to "min" and disappears, when I shorten it to "mi" (of course, it will not be shown in the interwiki list, because we have no "mi:" WIKIPEDIA. I am quite sure, that it is a problem with the length. So I amend Summary Rainer
Restored subject. This has nothing to do with the length; 'minnan' is not yet included in the list of language links so is not included. 'tlh' has been deliberately left off.
Seems to be working now.
Yes, seems to be fixed. [[:minnan:...]] is now linkted to http://zh-min-nan.wikipedia.org .
