A user reported a malfunctioning of the blacklist on Meta (see URL above); I've done some tests and
noticed that URLs between <ref> tags are ignored by this extension.

Please fix this, as this is leaving a rather large hole for spammers.
Comment 2 Rob Church 2007-05-19 16:27:42 UTC
I can't reproduce this such that a blacklisted URL is referenced on the page when saved. A blacklisted link between <ref></ref> tags is allowed through if no <references /> tag is present on the page, however, when the <references /> tag is present (which would cause the footnote to emit the URL), the filter appears to be working.

Please give a specific example of problematic markup that is causing a blacklisted URL to be accepted.

Keep in mind that contents of a <ref> are never displayed or rendered anywhere if there is no <references/>, so they would do a spammer no good.
Comment 4 anaconda 2007-06-03 21:20:42 UTC
Oops. There was no <references/>... Closing as invalid - sorry.
