Description John Pye 2007-03-28 14:28:19 UTC
I have enabled the AJAX search option in my Mediawiki installation.

I was editing a new article but wanted to remind myself of the name of a page
that I was about to link to. I typed in the first few characters in the search
box, then the AJAX listing came up with the link i needed. I hit the 'hide
results' button, but instead of returning me to my partially-completed article,
the text box was empty and back/forward buttons did not help.

This with Firefox 2.0.0.3 on Ubuntu 6.10.

If this can not fix the search box in this case, then the AJAX side of things
should somehow be disabled during article edits.

I'd consider the old AJAX search to be deprecated in favor of $wgEnableMWSuggest, which shouldn't interfere in this way.

This feature was replaced by mwsuggest and is not really maintained anymore.
