Please activate [[m:DynamicPageList2]] (preferred) or [[m:DynamicPageList]] on the English Wikisource. Both extensions are already in Wikimedia SVN. Instructions for their installation and activation are respectively at [[m:DynamicPageList2#Source_and_Installation]] and the top of [[m:DynamicPageList]]. This was discussed at [[s:Wikisource:Scriptorium#DynamicPageList]] and received unanimous support.
Please indicate which features of these extensions you need to use; both are potentially very expensive.
The desired features are listing the top few pages in a category by date (mostly for maintenance tasks) and simple category intersection. Categories on the English Wikisource are small, usually under a few hundred pages, so it should not be as potentially expensive as it would be on en-Wikipedia. A closer comparison in terms of category size would be Meta or en-Wikinews, where the extension is already enabled. DynamicPageList2 has many features that we could find all kinds of uses for, but DynamicPageList would be enough if DPL2 is much more potentially expensive.
There is a similar request at bug 6758: 'Activation of DynamicPageList2 on de-Wikisource'.
Removing DPL2 from the subject as it will never be installed (bug 8672)
Several heavy contributors at he.wikisource have also requested this, so please apply it there as well.
I used it on a site (which now moved to he.wikisource) hosted on wikia.com and it was great.
