With my patch it is possible to define a Mediawiki: message filled up with
regexps. When any of the regexps matches the username of a user who is
registering a account, it blocks.
I designed this thing for stopping a massive new-account-creation vandal on
de.wikipedia (search userlist for "*vandalismus*"...afaik over 2000 hits :-()

This sounds identical to the Username Blacklist extension in SVN. It's kind of
pointless to use it for vandal-stopping, since the vandal will just start
picking different names.

There already exists one?! is it live on dewiki?
Comment 4 Aryeh Gregor (not reading bugmail, please e-mail directly) 2006-12-15 20:36:13 UTC
It isn't enabled on any WMF sites.
