Description Dan Jacobson 2006-11-20 13:29:59 UTC
User viewing Special:Popularpages do not see any words telling them
that they are indeed only looking at NS_MAIN, so will never know that
Project:Wow etc. are even more popular.

Indeed, the code says WHERE page_namespace=".NS_MAIN.".

Solution: allow choosing different, and "all" namespaces too.
Comment 1 Rob Church 2006-11-20 13:35:58 UTC
1. It's intended to show popular articles, not all namespaces
2. If users need an advice note posted, this can be done in the special page
header message for this page
Comment 2 Robert Leverington 2006-11-26 11:04:35 UTC
I agree with Dan, many of the special pages only work for the main namespace. In
lots of wikis the main namespace isn't the only namespace with important content
and some people like to have information on all namespaces.

I also agree with Rob that the message can be added in the header message.
Therefore I think that this bug should be closed as a WONTFIX because bug 4204
covers the solution.

Good day.
Comment 3 Fyren 2006-12-03 07:07:52 UTC
I agree it shouldn't show all namespaces, but would it be horrible to change the
WHERE clauses in various special pages to use the values in $wgContentNamespaces
instead of only the main namespace?

Hm. That actually makes a certain amount of sense, yes...
