I specifically check the button to stay logged in, and yet it seems like every time I come back to a wiki, especially wikimedia ones, I'm logged out and have to log in again. On top of that, the checkbox always goes back to being unchecked. The thing should keep me logged in if it says it's going to keep me logged in, and if not, it should bloody say so. What gives?
WORKSFORME (Firefox 31, Chrome 36). Specific wiki and browser name and version info welcome, plus checking what your cookies do (or not).
It might also be caused by you (or someone on using your device) having accidentally changed the browser settings for cookies. Try experimenting with http://www.whatarecookies.com/cookietest.asp a bit. Visit it, refresh, close it, re-open, quit browser entirely, open it again etc. Do the cookies stay within those 20 minutes? If not, the issue is in your browser or its configuration.
I come back to most wikis relatively infrequently (sometimes a few weeks pass), but I don't know what would have changed on my end. I don't delete cookies or anything. Too much effort. I don't think it's because I'm logging out, either, because it seems to only happen on one device at a time.
Nevermind, I forgot the login expiry was just set to really short on wikimedia. *** This bug has been marked as a duplicate of bug 60437 ***
