Description David Chang 2006-07-12 16:53:05 UTC
when one uploads a file, he can write something in
the Summary text area. after initial upload, one can always
edit this summary. However, if one goes to the Special pages
and click on the File list, he always sees the image link plus the
initial summary text, not updated text.

is this what MediaWilki should be or is it a bug? i believe users
like to see the updated summary text.

i verified in ver. 1.7.1 and 1.6.5

Description page and upload summary text are conceptually
separate, and in future will likely have separate input boxes.

thanks for your reply. i feel i might be
misunderstood. on the page of File list, you can
see lines of files and each line has the following
similar info items:

(desc) Bluehills.jpg . . 28,521 bytes . .
WikiSysop . . 17:35, 29 June 2006 (test1)

here "test1" can be entered at the time of file
upload. it can also be modified (say, it is changed
to "test2") by editing the description page of a
file. when modified, the description page
shows "test2" as the latest and "test1" appears
with past versions.

the bug i am talking about is: on the page of File
list, it ALWAYS shows "test1". I believev "test2"
shold show up.
