Description Kurt Jansson 2004-09-23 01:18:01 UTC
It would be useful to be able to put a message on special pages. E.g. I'd like
to put a link to with a
short description on the German Special:Newpages.
Comment 1 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2005-07-06 14:10:16 UTC
Can be done by implementing the getPageHeader() method
in Special:Newpages.php
Comment 2 bdk 2005-07-28 08:13:11 UTC
added the URL in
Comment 3 Kurt Jansson 2005-08-31 19:03:55 UTC
The problem is, that [[MediaWiki:Showingresults]] is also used at other places,
not only at the list of new articles.
Comment 4 bdk 2005-11-30 02:31:16 UTC
(changed the summary from "template message on special pages"
to "Editable MediaWiki messages for all special pages" according to
the following suggestion)

Some of the special pages already have got associated header messages,
some others have not. One example of a reasonable usage could be where the particularities
of our search are announced. Admins are now able to edit and adapt the
recently created [[MediaWiki:Allpages-summary]] easily.

So please create such a message systematically for every special page,
for which a descriptive use is imaginable - of course, *not* for
Special:Version and a few other ;-)
