Description zilla4allll 2006-04-15 13:22:34 UTC
i've got this error("." is not a recommended image file format.) almost 2
times,while uploading an image:
*wile uploading png a screenshot on wikipedia,or even it's jpeg(gimp) converted
version
*wile uploading tux.png(http://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/Image:Tux.png) in
wikicities(now renamed to wika) to the game-info wiki

software used in order to create the screenshot:
*ksnapshot
*gimp
*gentoo linux

i'd like to send the image but there is no such thing in this bugzilla

by the way here is the web page code for the bug:

<div id="content">
		<a name="top" id="top"></a>
				<h1 class="firstHeading">Upload file</h1>
		<div id="bodyContent">
			<h3 id="siteSub">From Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia</h3>
			<div id="contentSub"></div>
									<div id="jump-to-nav">Jump to: <a href="#column-one">navigation</a>,
<a href="#searchInput">search</a></div>			<!-- start content -->

			<h2>Upload warning</h2>
<span class="error">"." is not a recommended image file format.</span>
<div class="printfooter">
Retrieved from "<a
href="http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload">http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Upload</a>"</div>
						<!-- end content -->
			<div class="visualClear"></div>
		</div>
	</div>

Unable to reproduce this uploading the same image with an identical filename to
a 1.7alpha test wiki.
Comment 2 zilla4allll 2006-04-16 23:36:25 UTC
that is strange because it makes me that even with
*downloading http://upload.wikimedia.org/wikipedia/commons/a/af/Tux.png with wget
*uploading with konqueror

(the previous post was 100% firefox)

what os and setting do you use?

i'll try tomorow on another computer with windows...
Comment 3 zilla4allll 2006-06-20 23:41:10 UTC
the solution was:
name the file tux.jpg instead of tux
why this error:
in unix files can be reconised witout caring an extention
