References are used frequently with "oldid=nnnn"; "action=purge" etc. *request* It might be a good idea to list references with external type links in [[Special:Whatlinkshere/foo]] and [[Special:Recentchangeslinked/foo]]. *reason* The 'Special:Whatlinkshere' displays at the moment "No pages link to here." This might now be possible with the external links table, although still potentially a bit messy.
Phil Boswell just reminded me, of course, that we have Special:Linksearch, which can be used to obtain this information for a specific page.
