Hallo! I understand that wiki links are "scanned" for ":" characters in order to identify interwiki prefixes and / or namespaces and / or pagenames. In addition the heading ":" character marks inline links (images, categories and interlanguage links if activated). Heading and trailing sequences of spaces and / or underlines for these entities (except before the first entity are *not* significant. The question is "How to deal with them?" I was surprised that such sequences are "stripped" when rendering redirects. Please make a preview in the url from above and save the page. Nevertheless such sequences render on other pages. I can not identify any use of such sequences. Probably they should be always stripped in wiki links. In order *not* to confuse users they should be stripped also from the page source during save. This is no limitation to interwiki links to non MediaWiki sites: The wiki links would stripp these sequences anyway. This request does not handle what to do with such sequences outsite wiki links. Hi lɛʁi, it is the second time I land in this bug report, and it is the second time I don't get an exact idea of the problem you are reporting and th solution you are proposing. This is clearly because I haven't dedicated time enough to follow the steps of your test page (which still exists in beta!). Still, coul you or someone summarize?
