The image description page says that the image is not used, and the image is listed in the orphan
image page.

1. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Shiva.jpg
used in http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Shiva
2. http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Image:Narmada.jpg
used in http://fr.wikipedia.org/wiki/Narmadâ

Orphan image page :
http://fr.wikipedia.org/w/wiki.phtml?title=Special:Unusedimages&limit=100&offset=1800
Image #1872 (Narmada)

This is on the French Wikipedia on August 14th, 2004. (I don't which version of Mediawiki is used
now.)

I think this is a major problem.

One of the volunteers on nl: is trying to clean up the unused images, and is wading by
hand through this bulky list of thousands of entries. But with images linked through
templates (parameter parsing) never showing up as used, he created a page to list these
images to prevent them showing up as orphans (anti-weespagina).

Images of which he cant find any usage of are listed for deletion, but chances of
overlooking an article are great - google isnt always up-to-date.

some examples:
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:Wapenschild_van_duitsland.png
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Duitsland
http://nl.wikipedia.org/wiki/Afbeelding:Vlag_van_duitsland_normaal.png (lists all uses
except Duitsland=Germany, the article mentioned above)
