I propose put a simple (blank page) message in diff view (at the newer revision
column) when newer revision is blank.

It should not be possible to "simulate" this new [[MediaWiki:Blankpage]]
detection in the user interface / diff page.

There have been already such [[mimicry]] attempts with
[[MediaWiki:Newmessageslink]].

Imho it should be clear from the diff that page is blanked. Then there is no need to worry about mimicing it.
