Description Adam 2006-01-13 23:41:30 UTC
I'd like to submit a feature request. I hope you'll agree that
this feature would be invaluable for most users of Wikipedia.

Would it be possible to treat categories on my watchlist so
that I should not only see when the category page itself is
modified but also when a new article is added to the category?

To take a simple example, let's suppose that there's no
article on "Italy" in Wikipedia but I'd like to read this
article as soon as it's created. However, there is a category
named "Countries in Europe". I'll put this category on my
watchlist and I'd like the software to be able to show me
among "Recent changes" if the category is expanded with a new
article (in this case, with "Italy") as soon as someone
creates it.

Why is it worthy? At the moment, unfortunately, I can only
discover by chance if a new relevant article is created in a
topic I'm interested in, or I have to check the category page
(the list of articles) manually time after time -- which is
not a really good solution.

What's more, several categories are open by nature, so I can't
even make a search for the name of a supposed new article
since a totally new article may appear in a category.
Nevertheless, I'd like to be notified about any new article
which is or will be included in the category I'm watching,
without having to browse the list regularly.

Thanks a lot in advance!

Best regards,
Adam from Hungary

Now I've discovered it can be treated with "Related
changed", see
