Description Thomas 2006-01-12 16:36:37 UTC

message like "XML-Deklaration does not starts with external Entity Line No. 2,
Col 1:
<?xml version="1.0" encoding="utf-8"?>
^"
Comment 1 Ævar Arnfjörð Bjarmason 2006-01-12 19:49:34 UTC

Comment 2 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2006-01-12 21:28:10 UTC

Please give the full URL as requested in comment 1 and reopen the bug.
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2006-01-12 22:38:08 UTC
99% of the time this is caused by extra whitespace at the start or end of a PHP source file
you've edited (for instance LocalSettings.php). This whitespace gets output, resulting in
the error when the XML is misplaced.
Comment 4 Darren VanBuren 2007-09-09 17:42:16 UTC
I have this problem as well. Examples: http://onekopakaspace.strangled.net/wiki/index.php/Special:Recentchanges?feed=rss (Yes, it is the same as ?title=Special:Recentchanges&feed=rss)
http://onekopakaspace.strangled.net/wiki/opensearchdesc.php
Basically anything in XML has extra whitespace at the beginning.
Comment 5 Brion Vibber 2007-09-10 00:22:08 UTC
See comment #3 -- you have to find the broken file in your installation and fix it.
Comment 6 Darren VanBuren 2007-09-13 05:13:13 UTC
Definitly in an extension or LocalSettings.php.

Whatever is causing whitespace to be repeated in XML needs to be fixed.
Comment 7 Darren VanBuren 2007-09-30 06:12:25 UTC
Fixed on my wiki. The problem was after the PHP closing tag in an extension.
