Same for https://commons.wikimedia.org/wiki/File:Road_E22_Latvia.svg which has some cached thumbs still.

Likely due to http://lists.wikimedia.org/pipermail/wikitech-l/2012-October/064019.html .
Not sure how many files are affected - setting tentatively highest prio.

Note that bug 39615 is an older ticket for the same problem.

I doubt so? That's a bug about old versions disappearing randomly after actions on the file and the error is different (there's just no URL to the original).

In any case, the titles for these bugs should change since they sound the same.

I originally called this "lost file", being clueless about the source of the problem, because these are files without a single original available.

I opened the other bug. It is the same issue...

There's a very small number of images for which this problem applies. Aaron has been looking at this problem off-and-on for a little while, and will continue to poke at this until he solves it, but may multitask with other things.

Duplicate of bug 39615. Copied last comment there (and I suppose not "very small"; 130 by current count).
