Description Richard Karpinski 2005-10-25 20:26:42 UTC
Mediawiki wikis have a Special Pages page which includes Version (Thanks folks,
it was good to find it there) and it gives version information for Mediawiki and
the database. I believe that would be a great place to provide Platform and OS
version information as well. This would enable folks to report bugs correctly
even if they cannot otherwise tell what host is providing their wiki service.

Sorry if this suggestion is not in a good place.

ps If you mail me reports like this, then I can tell what I said in them.

Patch against CVS HEAD

Small patch to implement this. Modifies the Special:Version page to output a
slightly tweaked version of the server software string that comes from the
server. Produces something like Microsoft-IIS/5.11 or Apache 2.x.x (Unix).

Fixed in CVS.

After discussion with the other developers, it was agreed we don't need this.
There's tons of debugging information there already, and there isn't a reliable
way of getting this stuff.
