{ position: relative; overflow: auto; } on the content area can have a few uses. Sometimes it can fix floating issues in a skin. Other times it can be used to prevent in-page vandalism from ever getting outside of the content area.

This bug tracks issues in the way of supporting overflow: auto; on skins.
