BUG MIGRATED FROM SOURCEFORGE
http://sourceforge.net/tracker/index.php?func=detail&aid=951517&group_id=34373&atid=411192

On all browsers tested, if res=800x600, and if not
logged in (or, if logged in, the "Edit box has full
width" is not checked, which seems to be the default),
there is ahorizontal scroll bar, and the Edit box
scroll bar is off-screen.
It would help usability if the 'fixed width' version of
the Edit box was reduced a bit.
For a more detailed discussion see

This may be related to #926730.
Since I work as a software tester, and have most major
browsers available (NS6/7, Mozilla 1.4, IE5.5, and
Opera7), I would be happy to help test any changes.

FWIW, this is using a Win2k box (altho' I don't think it
matters), using default skin, left nav, etc.

Please test http://test.wikipedia.org/- the default width is
specified in % now, and if the screen in really narrow
(<300px) the sidebar usually drops below the content area.

OK, I've checked all five browsers mentioned, plus Firebird
0.8, and full-screen, no hor. scroll bar (unlike this
sourceforge page, btw).
I have to squeeze it to a couple inches less than full
screen before the scroll bar appears, which seems quite
reasonable.
Of course, I wish I had known to check for the problem here
before I reported it. Oh well, this is my first report, so I
can do better in the future.

The default width for the standard, nostalgia and
cologneblue skins should be adjusted imo, but somebody else
might have more insight on why default is how it is
currently in those skins. Leaving this open for now to
remind us to check this sooner or later.
