Description Ben Wern 2005-07-13 14:05:52 UTC
After installing 1.5beta3, using the special page MediaWiki:Nogomatch to allow
creation of a new page from a failed search (see FAQ at
http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_FAQ#How_do_I_show_a_link_to_create_a_page_when_searches_fail.3F)
no longer works. Instead, it displays the following:

Search results
From EnterpriseManagement
For query "Test"

No page with that title exists

You can <a href=":Test" class="new">create an article with this title</a> or <a
href="/wiki/Wikipedia:Requested articles">put up a request for it</a>.
Comment 1 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2005-07-13 14:35:04 UTC
The message does not display on a failed search but on
a failed "go". To show the message:

- Enter some text in the search input box, for ex "doesnotexist1234"
- Press "GO" (not "search")
Message should show:
 "No page with this exact title exists, trying full text search."

Please retest using the "GO" button.
Comment 2 Ben Wern 2005-07-13 15:56:00 UTC
You are correct - this error occurs with the "Go" command, not "Search."
However, it still displays the error -- as noted in the open, I am using the
special Nogomatch page to alter the output of a Go result to allow us to create
a new page, as refernced in the FAQ. It appears to be reaching the
Special:Nogomatch page, but is not rendering the link appropriately.
Comment 3 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2005-07-13 16:04:21 UTC
MediaWiki:nogomatch should use wiki syntax, not html :

---8<----------------
<span style="font-size: 135%; font-weight: bold; margin-left: .6em">
No page with that title exists
</span>

<span style="display: block; margin: 1.5em 2em">
You can <b>[[$1|create an article with this title]]</b> or
[[Wikipedia:Requested articles|put up a request for it.

<span style="display:block; font-size: 89%; margin-left:.2em">
Please search Wikipedia before creating an article to avoid duplicating
an existing one, which may have a different name or spelling.</span>
</span>
---8<----------------

HTML got probably enabled on en.wikipedia.org and need to be fixed.
Comment 4 Ben Wern 2005-07-13 17:34:47 UTC
Understood - changing to proper Wiki syntax corrected the issue. I've added a
comment on the FAQ entry, since the actual en:Wikipedia entry is of course
locked. Thanks for your help!
