Description aaron.adrignola 2011-02-17 05:08:29 UTC
Transwiki imports are not working correctly since the update to 1.17 at en.wikibooks.

Importing a page from the Category namespace at Wikipedia results in imports only to the Category namespace even if another destination namespace is selected.

Importing a page from the mainspace goes to mainspace even if Transwiki namespace is selected as destination. You get the idea.

Additionally, if a different destination namespace is selected, the import log shows "X revisions from w:<Destination namespace>:<Page name>", breaking attribution because the page imported doesn't exist at that namespace in the source wiki.

In the linked log you can see on February 7 v:Help:Quiz was imported to b:Transwiki:Quiz, but after the upgrade, the import on February 15 sent "w:Wet weather driving" to mainspace and showed "w:Transwiki:Wet weather driving" as the source. That should have been where it was supposed to go.

Seems like some inputs are getting reversed. Imports only work as expected if source and destination namespaces match.

The same problem occurs in the English Wikipedia. I tried to import the page "ManningBartlett" to the MediaWiki talk namespace (which I regularly use because it's uncommon), and it imported it into the main namespace instead. The import log also shows the same problems as it does on Wikibooks.
