Description Mark A. Hershberger 2011-02-08 21:08:44 UTC
See Bug #25973 where Roan first proposes this idea.

Pasted here for convenience:

"The proper link [to the login page] can't be generated with wikitext alone (the &returnto parameter can be, but &returntoquery can't), so I guess we should introduce a {{LOGINLINK}} magic word or something."

For what is worth I have missed this as well. If this is not too complex, and if we agree it is still a good idea, perhaps we could offer the task as EASY?

That would pollute parser cache. Unless you plan to use this only from i18n messages, it won't work.

Which I suppose there is precedent with things like {{GENDER:..}} working differently in messages then in page text. (In this case it could have the returntoquery in messages, and just the returnto= in page text), although that feels kind of icky.
