Description Jens Müller 2004-09-02 18:06:34 UTC
Currently, it is impossible to watch pages which do not exist. It would be nice
to put such pages on the watchlist without creating them.

Perhaps the page could be "virtually" created, getting a page ID, but with a
flag set signifying that it does not exist.
Comment 1 Brion Vibber 2004-09-02 18:11:30 UTC
You *can* watch pages that do not currently exist.
Comment 2 Jens Müller 2004-09-02 19:10:39 UTC
Ah, now I know why I did not find that option:

1. Enter "hgsdfh" in the search box in the en-wikipedia.
2. Press Go -> http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Special:Search?search=hgsdfh&go=Go

The "Edit" link leads to the Edit page where is NO Watch link.

In the English Wikipedia, there is also a link to the (non-existing) article.

This link is missing in the German Wikipedia.

Maybe it could be added there as well?

-> Product/Component changed.
Comment 3 Brion Vibber 2004-09-02 19:23:02 UTC
Changed summary to reflect the actual problem.
Comment 4 Antoine "hashar" Musso (WMF) 2004-09-03 15:11:54 UTC
PHPTal skins (such as monobook) did not show the watch / unwatch tool.

This is fixed for the next 1.3.x version
