Hi Guys,

I am a complete newbie so please excuse me if this really isnt a bug. I wanted to
setup MediaWiki on my website so I checked out the instructions
(http://meta.wikimedia.org/wiki/MediaWiki_User%27s_Guide:_Installation) which suggest
that its a fairly striaght forward process of downloading the build tar file then
uploading it, fiddling with permissions and then following the installation and
config instructions. As a newbie this was great it seemed pretty straight forward.

I downloaded the tar file, uncompressed it and uploaded it to my sever, changed the
permsisions and got the setup page however when I clicked on the link it gave me a
404 error because it could not find /config/index.php. I manually downloaded this
file from the CVS, created the directory server side and violla it worked the only
problem now is that its giving out about not finding /includes/Defines.php. Is this a
problem with the build? I think maybe the directory structure isnt being created when
I uncompress the tar so all the files are there just not in the right
places/direcotries. I am doing this under Win2K would that make any difference? I
couldnt find any forum to discuss this and i would appreciate if someone could point
me to a good one as I would like some assitance with customising it etc and it would
be helpful to talk to people who have done this. Do I get notification of this bugs
response etc? If not whoever is looking at the bug could they email me so I know
whats happening?
