Description Faraaz Damji 2005-04-23 21:52:41 UTC
This is a feature request that URLs for internal links that use the external
link format (i.e. [one bracket]) do not appear in the printable version of an
article.

Lately, we have had to use the external link format for footnotes, since:
#There is no footnote feature built in to MediaWiki
#Normal internal links (with <nowiki>[[two brackets]]</nowiki>) do not allow for
automatic numbering

If there is an internal link using the external link format of one bracket, then
only the number (or link title) should be displayed- not the full URL, as this
breaks up the text in the printable version, making it very difficult (and
annoying) to read.

That sounds like a hack of a hack of a hack, and doesn't make much sense. Determining what's meant to be "internal" would
not be reliable.

Instead, please file a bug report for improved footnote support (already filed as bug 192).
