Description Skier Dude 2009-03-26 03:48:15 UTC
While the old image version deletion links as follows:
http://en.wikipedia.org/w/index.php?title=File:92mudlark.jpg&action=delete&oldimage%5B%5D=20090315015722%2192mudlark.jpg

The following page is not the delete revision page, but the delete image page.

On en.wikipedia, see my contributions [[Skier Dude]] for [[File:944521 20080226 screen011.jpg]] [[File:9958 poster-1-.jpg]] [[File:95137389iw8.jpg]] [[File:8729677.jpg]].

This happens on both firefox and IE7.

Thanks all

Skier Dude

Not sure what's wrong here. Deletion of individual file revisions should be the file deletion page, not the revision deletion page.

Or am I misunderstanding something?

I just encountered a strange behaviour, from what I understand it's the same as what Robert reported, only phrased differently. When trying to delete a single revision of a file, using the "delete" link for this revision in the "File history" section of the description page, I inadvertedly deleted all the revisions of the file and of the description page. Surely this wasn't the previous behaviour.

Just an FYI that it's also being discussed at the en.wiki [[Wikipedia:Village pump (technical)#Image/File deletion issue]].
Comment 5 Skier Dude 2009-04-07 20:41:26 UTC
Thanks Amalthea! The removal of the [] after delete&oldimage does the trick. I removed it in the address bar, re-sent the request without the [] and it did point to the correct page, which did solely the revision deletion. See [[File:1983worldjamboree.jpg]] and [[File:4C ecosa logo master copy.jpg]]. Is it possible to just have the [] removed from the command, or would that create other problems?

Comment 7 Daniel Kinzler 2009-04-20 08:38:20 UTC
I can confirm the issue: when trying to delete an old revision of a file, the entire page gets deleted instead.
Comment 9 Splarka 2009-04-20 08:47:37 UTC
Broken in: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/48277

Fixed in: http://www.mediawiki.org/wiki/Special:Code/MediaWiki/48837

Note: not yet live, but apparently fixed, unless the fix gets reverted. Then bug should be reopened.
Comment 10 Tim Starling 2009-04-30 03:47:04 UTC
Since the fix is disputed in CodeReview and has not been deployed, I'm re-opening this for now.
Comment 11 Tim Starling 2009-05-08 08:55:32 UTC
r48837 is deployed on Wikimedia now, but for 1.15 I will revert r48277 and any related revisions instead.
