Wikimedia Bugzilla is closed!

Wikimedia has migrated from Bugzilla to Phabricator. Bug reports should be created and updated in Wikimedia Phabricator instead. Please create an account in Phabricator and add your Bugzilla email address to it.
Wikimedia Bugzilla is read-only. If you try to edit or create any bug report in Bugzilla you will be shown an intentional error message.
In order to access the Phabricator task corresponding to a Bugzilla report, just remove "static-" from its URL.
You could still run searches in Bugzilla or access your list of votes but bug reports will obviously not be up-to-date in Bugzilla.

Description Joshua Ciappara 2009-02-28 13:34:24 UTC
You guys are probably pestered about this all he time, but will it be possible sometime to allow <noinclude> to work in the MediaWiki: namespace? This tag would be invaluable to description and documentation. Thanks.
Comment 1 Niklas Laxström 2009-02-28 16:10:16 UTC
I don't think mixing documentation with contents in this case is a good idea. However, there has been talk about providing a mechanism to show the existing message documentation we already have. There is still unsolved problems that prevent implementing it right now.
Comment 2 Joshua Ciappara 2009-03-02 11:59:43 UTC
I'm certainly no software expert, but what makes you feel that documentation here wouldn't be a good idea? Many of the MediaWiki: pages on the English Wikipedia, for instance, would be quite difficult to comprehend for a new user (or even an experienced one, for that matter). If we could describe the usage locally, this problem would be eliminated. All the same.
Comment 3 Niklas Laxström 2009-03-02 12:09:14 UTC
My point was about *mixing* documentation with the content. They should be separate.

Comment 5 Pavel Selitskas [wizardist] 2013-01-10 14:19:34 UTC
Niklas, can we make documentation accessible via {{int:Messageid/qqq}}? The bug subject could be implemented then via editnotice, I guess.
Comment 6 Nemo 2013-01-10 14:23:49 UTC
Pavel, {{MediaWiki:<messageid>/qqq}} already works, but some cleanup is needed, see bug 41578.
Comment 7 Siebrand Mazeland 2013-01-10 22:42:55 UTC
The Wikimedia Language Engineering team has no plans to actively add this feature. Patches are welcome and will be reviewed, of course.
